We had to compress our footage for everyone able to see via web. There are several different types of software that are able to do this however i used miro video converter. This is a simple video converter that we have to convert from a .mov to MP4 format and a ___ format . Below are few screen shots of the process using the software.

Podcast Research
In my sketchbook, ive got a few different angles that are good for interveiw angles. Im just going to show some good interveiw and why.
BAD

When i first clicked on this, it looked really professional and looked like it was going to be a good podcast interview, however its just the same angle all the way through which made the interveiw alot more boring then it should of. The background did suit the mood either.
Average

This is slightly better then the first one because it has several camera angles. However when doing an interveiw its not all about the camera angles its setting the background aswell and this one doesnt suit the theme. Cutaways are key feature aswell and this slacks it.
Getting Better
On this interview, the camera angles are good and the background is set for the right mood however again the lack of cutaways doesnt make it the best interveiw so far.

(interveiw with Obama)
Nearly there

This is the closest i could find to a perfect interview. The only thing that i would personally change is the background to the interview. The cutaways make it a little more intresting.

Research
Short Clips
Before i wanted to make my "race" themed clip, i needed to research upon simular video clips. As a big fan of car themed films anyway i started off watching the fast and furious series and here was one of the main clips that resembled on what i want to do.
http://www.youtube.com/embed/HellecNGqbQ
In this clip from the fast and furious 4, the main race is 4 cars againest each other. It starts of pretty slow becoming faster towards the "GO!" then after that there what seems about 12 edits in like 3 seconds. Its clips like this and editing like this that makes the film/clip it self seem faster then it is.
http://www.youtube.com/embed/hFnvCyNytB4
Seem sought of clips in all of them. (clip from 2fast 2furious)
If i was to follow up on the race theme the one thing i dont want to do is blend it with any other genre. the angles is say a romance film are very slow and normally are head shots to see the emotion. The following clip is from the film "love actually" and proves this.

First Impressions Of brief
My first impression of the brief are really good. Film editing was the main thing, I come on this course for. However when reading the brief the "crash bang wallop" seemed quite impossible really. We have to do 30 clips in 15-20 seconds. The good thing is if i was able to do an action packed sequence thats what i need really (fast, short and snappy.) The podcast seemed easier enough, however the main problem is getting someone "intresting" to film with suitable clips to resort to.
Brief :)
Brief
Crash Bang Wallop
The Brief
For Crash Bang Wallop, you will use video editing to convey a fast and stimulating experience. To do this, you will need to make a short film piece that is between 15 and 20 seconds in length. Your piece can either describe an everyday situation in a dramatic or dynamic way or subvert the expected response to a situation. For example,
· The unbearable loudness of making breakfast as seen through a hangover
· Riding a children’s roundabout made to seem dark, sinister and threatening
Create 15-20 seconds of video with no less than 30 edits, placing an emphasis on abrupt editing that makes it look as action packed as possible, and creates a mood such as discordance or dynamism. You will try to make a film which creates dramatic impact but is as economical and succinct as possible.
Sussex Lives Podcast
The Brief
You will be planning, shooting and editing a short interview based film, 1 minute in length, that can be used as a podcast for the Sussex based property and lifestyle magazine Latest Homes Sussex (latestsussex.co.uk). The aim of this series of podcasts is to reflect the diversity of interesting people that live in the region as part of their ‘lifestyles’ section of the magazine’s website, and the series is called ‘Sussex Lives’.
You need to find an interviewee with a quirky or interesting story to tell, line up the interview, record it in an appropriate location and film cutaways to use in the editing. To make the interviews a consistent series, the interview questions will be edited out of the sequence and as a group you need to develop a consistent look and feel for the lower third captioning.
